Public Comments Requested by the Charter Commission
for the
10-Year Review of the City Charter

From time to time, but not less than every ten (10) years, a Charter Review Commission is appointed by the Mayor, with the advice and consent of a majority of the members of the City Council, to consider whether any amendments to the City Charter are appropriate. This process has begun in 2017, and the appointed Charter Review Commission is seeking comments from the public on suggested amendments to the City Charter.
The current City Charter is available at the following link:
Written comments are requested to be submitted by 4:00 p.m., on Friday, March 10, 2017, to:
Amanda Foster, City Clerk
City of Wildwood
16860 Main Street
Wildwood, MO 63040
E-Mail:  afoster@cityofwildwood.com
Fax:  (636) 458-6969
The Charter Review Commission meets next on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at 6:30 p.m., at Wildwood City Hall, where it will begin its review of any written comments received. It will also hear oral comments from the public at the beginning of this meeting.
The Charter Review Commission shall, within six (6) months of its first meeting report, to the City Council any amendments to the Charter it deems advisable. The City Council may at its discretion submit such proposed amendments to the voters.

Attention Rockwoods Reservation Visitors

As of Monday, February 13, 2017, the vehicular bridge on Glencoe Road, immediately south of the Education Building, was closed, and will remain so for approximately 120 days, for replacement. During this time, visitors can still utilize the State Route 109 entrances to access the Lime Kiln Trail, Turkey Ridge Trail, Wildlife Habitat Trail, and picnic areas. However, in order to access the Education Center, Green Rock Trail, and Rock Quarry Trail, visitors will be directed around an approximately five (5) mile detour, via Manchester Road to Glencoe Road (north end).

The pedestrian bridge on the Trail Among the Trees, which is adjacent to the vehicular bridge, will generally be open and allow visitors to access the whole area by foot. However, due to the above mentioned bridge construction, the trail may periodically be closed at the adjacent foot bridge and be limited to an out and back use, instead of the normal loop. This trail also has a different bridge out that requires through-hikers to cross a ravine or turn around at the halfway point. For updated information on the road closure, please use this link: nature.mdc.mo.gov/discover-nature/places/rockwoods-reservation.

The Garden Society of Wildwood - Come and Join the Fun

The Garden Society of Wildwood (GSW) is comprised of members from the West County Area interested in sharing and increasing their knowledge of gardening, both flowering and vegetable. Members typically meet in the morning on the second Monday of the month. Meetings can be comprised of outside presenters, site visits, or member speakers, some of whom have reached Master Gardeners status.

The objectives of the GSW are three fold: (1.) to protect, beautify and learn about the environment, (2.) to enjoy the friendship of fellow gardeners, and (3.) to collectively provide charitable support to local non-profit organization(s) involved in gardening. New members and guests are always welcome.

If you would like more information, or would like to see our list of meeting activities for 2017, please visit our Facebook Page "The Garden Society of Wildwood" or contact Fran Komar at fkomar@wildblue.net.

Solicitors' Licenses Recently Authorized

There are currently Solicitors Permits issued for the period March 1, 2017 through March 28, 2017 for Charter Spectrum Services and Midtown Home Improvements. Given a solicitor may knock on your door, the City wants to remind you that it has ordinances that govern the rights and responsibilities of solicitors. These ordinances ensure that the City is aware of who is soliciting in our neighborhoods and that the solicitors are bound to professional conduct.
Solicitors are required to obtain a permit from the City prior to approaching residents.  The application for such allows the City to collect data on the solicitor and the company they represent.  Once a permit is issued, they may solicit within the City for a 28 day period of time.  If they represent a local City of Wildwood licensed business, the permit is issued for the duration of their business license.
Solicitation is permitted between the hours of 9:00 am and 8:00 pm during the months of April-October.  Solicitation hours move back to ending at 7:00 pm in the months November-March.
Please respond to someone at your door, with best safety precautions as your guide.  You always have the option to not answer the door, if you do not recognize the person there.  If you answer the door and are greeted by a solicitor, please request their permit, which is required to be readily supplied to you and on their person at all times of solicitation.  If the solicitation is not welcome, firmly request that they leave.  They must then immediately and peacefully leave the property.
If you would prefer not to be approached by solicitors, you may obtain from the City a window slick to display, which states “No Solicitors”.  The solicitors are bound by City ordinance to not even knock on your door and must leave the premises immediately upon seeing the notice.  You may obtain this No Solicitors notice at the front desk at City Hall or by email request to Colleen@cityofwildwood.com
If a solicitor fails to provide their City issued permit upon request, ignores your No Solicitation notice, or your request to leave, please contact the  Wildwood Police Department immediately at (636) 458-9194. It is best to make this call immediately, so the Wildwood Police Department may investigate most effectively.
