The 2016 Celebrate Wildwood Event will take place from August 26, 2016 through August 28, 2016 in Wildwood Town Center. For the detailed weekend schedule, visit www.celebratewildwood.com!
One of the major highlight's of the Celebrate Wildwood Event is all of the musical entertainment! There are several acts throughout the weekend and there will be something for everyone! The first performance of the weekend will be the 399th U.S. Army Band, on Friday, August 26, starting at 6:45 p.m., and will be followed by an incredible fireworks display provided by Meridian Waste Services. Please take note that the stage will be located at the end of Main Street this year, next to City Hall.
On Saturday, August 27th, the Back Street Cruisers will be jamming from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30p.m. and will provide the tunes while you check out the Car Show on Main Street. On Saturday evening, the Ralph Butler Band will be performing starting at 6:45 p.m., followed by yet another fireworks display!
The final musical act of the weekend will be Teddy McCready, performing some easy listening music at the Art Festival on the upper level of the parking garage on Sunday, August 28, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Keep in mind that the Food Court and Wine/Beer Garden will be open and have a wide variety of delicious food and refreshments available during all of these performances! You can find the Food Court and Wine/Beer Garden on the upper level of the parking garage all weekend. Some of the items that will be available for your enjoyment include: hand-shaken lemonade, kettle korn, chicken wings, BBQ, soft pretzels, cinnamon roasted pecans and almonds, fish sandwiches, adult snow cones, kabobs, Dippin’ Dots, pork rinds, soft drinks, wine, beer and more! So bring a lawn chair and come join us! We’ll see you there!

The 2016 Art Festival will be a major attraction of the Celebrate Wildwood Weekend Event, boasting 50+ artist booths of beautiful, one-of-a-kind art! Everything from paintings and photography, to jewelry and ceramics, will be available for your viewing pleasure and purchase! The 2016 Art Festival will take place from 11:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., on Saturday, August 27, 2016, and from 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M., on Sunday, August 28, 2016. The Art Festival will be held on the upper level of the public parking garage, next to the Wildwood Hotel. The Food Court and Wine and Beer Garden will be on the upper level of the parking garage as well, so swing by and grab a bite to eat and a beverage, too!
Like Parades? - Well Come and Join In!
This year’s Founders’ Day Parade is rounding into form and will be a great family event to the start of a long weekend of activities in Town Center, which celebrates the City's 21st birthday. Heading this year's parade will be the Lafayette High School Marching Band and many other great participants. Want to be a part of this event? Spaces remain in the parade line-up, so you can still enter. Here are some ideas for parade entries…

Neighborhoods – create a friendly rivalry between friends in other neighborhoods - bragging rights and prizes are on the line!

Celebrate Wildwood - Founders’ Car Show
One (1) of the major attractions of the City’s three (3) day Celebrate Wildwood Event, which this year recognizes its 21st Anniversary, is the always popular and fun Founders' Car Show. This year’s show is planned for Saturday, August 27, 2016, and registration begins at 10:00 a.m. and runs through 12:00 p.m. (noon). Great awards are planned in expanded categories from 2015 and everyone can enjoy all of the other activities and great food and beverages that are planned this day as well. Providing the right mood for the Car Show and the great entries will be the Back Street Cruisers, which play the best music for enthusiasts and participants alike. Registration fee is $15.00, with all proceeds benefiting charity.
Following the Car Show, a car cruise is planned, from the event grounds in Town Center Area, then along many of the City’s most beautiful rural roads, to Wildwood Community Park, which is located at 2153 Highway 109 (but you will enter from State Route 100), where a BBQ dinner will be waiting. The Celebrate Wildwood 21st Anniversary Event is just about a month away and volunteers are needed to help with the Art Festival, Car Show, and other elements. With summer now here and the kids out of school, families and friends gather to celebrate milestones or just to have time together. Looking for an outdoor venue to hold your celebration? The City of Wildwood has three (3) beautiful park pavilions available for your upcoming events.
Anniversary Park and Old Pond School Park have great outdoor pavilions available for your family and friends to join you on your special celebrations. The pavilions at Anniversary Park and Old Pond School hold up to thirty (30) people. The parks have playground equipment and also provide picnic tables.
The City's new Community Park has a pavilion, with convenient restrooms a part of it, that seats over one hundred (100). Nearby is the all-inclusive playground and the great outdoors!

City Council Activity from the Meeting on 7/25/2016
- A public hearing was held regarding – P.Z. 9-16 Fick Supply Service, 501 North Eatherton Road, Wildwood, Missouri 63005 – A request to amend the current M-3 Planned Industrial District Ordinance that governs this property (#1697), along with the review and action upon an Amended Site Development Plan. Proposed Use: The expansion of the existing mulch storage and composting facility, with wholesaling and limited retail, to accommodate increased storage, processing, and accessory operations at this location. (Ward – One) The City Council authorized the Department of Planning to prepare the necessary legislation to approve this request.
- A public hearing was held regarding – P.Z 14-07 Covert-Corsair Homes, Inc., c/o Stock and Associates; seeking a modification to the site-specific ordinance, to allow for an extension of time for the commencement of construction to begin upon this tract of land, which must be met in a specified timeframe (July 25, 2016). (Ward – Eight) The City Council referred this item to the Planning and Zoning Commission for reconsideration, with the intent the extension is granted.
- A public hearing was held regarding P.Z. 25, 26, and 26a – 14 Main Street Crossing, Payne Family Homes L.L.C., c/o Jerry Duepner, 10407 Baur Boulevard, Suite B, St. Louis, Missouri 63132 that addresses petitioner’s request for modifications to the current Planned Residential Development Overlay District (PRD) Ordinance #2116; to allow for certain allowances/relief to existing requirements relating to required roadway improvements and utility issues, so as the project can proceed to eventual construction. (Ward – Eight) The City Council authorized the Department of Planning to prepare the necessary legislation to approve this request.
- A public hearing was held regarding - P.Z. 14-06 City of Wildwood and Neichter/Throckmorton Development by the Planning and Zoning Commission regarding this residential subdivision; that responds to the petitioner’s request to allow for an extension of time for the commencement of construction to begin upon this tract of land, which must be met in a specified timeframe (May 27, 2016). (Ward – One) The City Council referred this item to the Planning and Zoning Commission for reconsideration, with the intent the extension is granted.
- Approved BILL #2200 - A change to the Town Center Plan's Regulating Plan; amending Ordinance #1650 by deleting section two thereof and enacting, in lieu thereof, a new section two; and providing for the approval of an Amended C-8 Planned Commercial District for a certain one point six (1.6) acre tract of land for use as a residential senior service facility (P.Z. 5 and 5a-16 Stonecrest at Wildwood). (Ward - Eight)
- Approved Resolution #2016-19 – authorizing the City of Wildwood to apply to the Missouri Department of Transportation for funding of two Capital Projects under the Missouri Moves Cost Share Program. (Wards – All).
- Approved expenditures from the City of Wildwood’s General Operating Account pursuant to Chapter 140, Section 140.050 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Wildwood.
Our Parks and Trail Facilities
Over the past few months, the City has experienced vandalism at some of its park and trail facilities. The St. Louis County Police Department - Wildwood Precinct is quick to respond to these problems and thoroughly investigates all of them. However, the damage is done and the cost, in some instances, to repair or replace these facilities is significant. You can help! If you see something suspicious or notice graffiti, please contact the Department of Planning and Parks at (636) 458-0440, during normal businesses hours, or the St. Louis County Police Department - Wildwood Precinct at (636) 458-9194 anytime thereafter. If it is an emergency, please call 911. Your help will ensure our facilities in Wildwood are protected and repaired, when needed, to be safe and functional for us all.
Park and Trail Memorial Program
The City of Wildwood is pleased to offer a Park and Trail Memorial Program intended for residents to honor and commemorate the memory of a loved one or close friend. The City is offering three (3) different options that can be placed in a number of different active or passive park/trail locations in the City. Alt Road Closure in Eureka, Missouri
The contractor for the City of Eureka, Missouri has closed Alt Road, between Thunder Valley Drive and Forby Road, as of Tuesday, May 31, 2016. A signed detour route is in place and local traffic will be able to access Alt Road, at Thunder Valley Drive and Wren Meadow Drive. Asphalt Resurfacing Program for the City's Rural Streets
The City of Wildwood has contracted with L. Krupp Construction for its re-surfacing project for Summer of 2016. The City of Wildwood will be milling side streets and drive entrances, prior to the two (2) inch asphalt overlay to ensure smooth transitions. Paving Schedule: The contractor will then be paving Alt Road during the week of August 1, 2016, weather permitting. Please use caution in the work areas and expect delays during paving.

The Shoeman Water Project Shoe Drive Continues
at Wildwood City Hall
Thanks to everyone who has donated shoes, boots, and sandals to the Shoeman Water Project. Donation boxes are located at City Hall, 16860 Main Street, both on the 1st and 2nd Floor Foyers. Larger Recycling Carts Are Available to Residents

If you find the 65 gallon cart to be too small for your weekly recyclables, please call Meridian Waste Services, at (314) 291-3131, to request a larger recycling cart. Meridian will replace your 65 gallon recycling cart, with a new 95 gallon recycle cart AT NO CHARGE (the old carts cannot be utilized for anything, but recycling, and will be redistributed to those needing the smaller carts).
American Flag Disposal
The City of Wildwood accepts retired American flags for dignified disposal. Please bring worn flags to City Hall, 16860 Main Street, and leave them with the receptionist. All flags collected will be relinquished to the Boy Scouts of America for proper disposal. US Flags should never be placed in the trash.
Operation Clean Stream Registration is Now Open!
The Open Space Council's 49th Annual Operation Clean Stream is right around the corner. In 2015, nearly 2,000 citizen volunteers braved the wet weather to clean up nearly 500 miles of waterway in the Meramec River Watershed. Volunteers worked 5,778 hours and pulled 1,347 tires, 13,975 pounds of metal, and 428 cubic yards of trash from the river. Please consider joining these volunteers in 2016, as the Open Space Council anticipates another successful year of impacting Missouri's open spaces!
