Presentation of the Final Report
from Environmental Stewardship Concepts
Regarding the Ellisville Superfund Site by Dr. Peter DeFur

In December 2014 (later updated in August 2015), EPA issued its Final Report following a 2014 Removal Action involving the property currently proposed for the development of twenty (20) residential home sites (known as the proposed Strecker Forest Subdivision), which is partially within the Bliss-Ellisville sub-site of the Ellisville Superfund Site. The EPA Removal Action Report appears to indicate remaining public health concerns, and the City of Wildwood responded to this circumstance by engaging the environmental consulting firm, Environmental Stewardship Concepts (ESC), to examine this Report, and other relevant documents and correspondence, to determine what additional actions are needed from the EPA to address all remaining issues.

Dr. Peter DeFur, of Environmental Stewardship Concepts, is scheduled to present his findings and recommendations at the March 28, 2016 City Council Work Session, held at Wildwood City Hall, in the Council Chambers, at 6:00 p.m.  A copy of the ESC Report and other related documents are available at the following URL:  http://www.cityofwildwood.com/444/Strecker-Forest-Site

Any questions can be directed to Ryan S. Thomas, City Administrator, at (636) 405-2041 or ryan@cityofwildwood.com.

April 2016 Ballot Issue: Proposition B

Following a court decision, which invalidated local sales taxes on vehicles purchased out of state, the legislature reinstated this tax for all jurisdictions with local sales taxes. However, the legislation stipulates that each entity levying a sales tax must place on the ballot the question of retaining the use tax on out of state vehicle purchases.  This election must take place by November 2016, and if the jurisdiction fails to place the question on the ballot or if it fails, out of state vehicle, tax collections will cease.
Most jurisdictions across the State, including the City of Wildwood, have placed this issue on the April 2016 Ballot, as Proposition B, which will read as follows:
Shall the City of Wildwood, Missouri continue applying and collecting the local sales tax on the titling of motor vehicles, trailers, boats, and outboard motors that were purchased from a source other than a licensed Missouri dealer?  Rejection of this measure will result in a reduction of local revenue to provide for vital services for the City of Wildwood, Missouri and it will place Missouri dealers of motor vehicles, outboard motors, boats, and trailers at a competitive disadvantage to non-Missouri dealers of motor vehicles, outboard motors, boats, and trailers?
                                           Yes   (__)                               No   (__)
If Proposition B fails, it is estimated that the impact to the City of Wildwood would be a loss in excess of $70,000 in annual revenue.  Please contact Ryan S. Thomas, City Administrator, at (636) 405-2041 or ryan@cityofwildwood.com, with any questions regarding Proposition B.

Sewer Project

MSD Caulks Creek Trunk Sewer - Phase 1 - Starting Soon

The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD) is beginning a major construction project to build a new sanitary sewer which will benefit many Wildwood residents.  The Caulks Creek Trunk Sewer, Phase I project will replace existing undersized trunk sewers, alleviate building backups and eliminate existing overcharged sanitary sewers.  The project consists of 3.1 miles (16,225 feet) of 8-inch to 36-inch sanitary relief sewers starting near the intersection of Church Road and Kehrs Mill Road.  The project extends to the south, generally following the alignment of Caulks Creek, to its ending point in Wildwood’s Anniversary Park (north side of Clayton Road near the intersection of Clayton Road and Strecker Road).  The project includes two separate side collection systems which extend into the Quaethem Farms Estates Subdivision to provide improved service to the homes in that subdivision.
Tree clearing has begun, with the project's completion anticipated by early in summer of 2018.
