The Next Coffee is Thursday, February 3, 2022
@ 7:30 a.m.Coffee with the Mayor will accommodate in-person attendance at City Hall
Thursday, February 3, 2022. These coffees are great opportunities to meet neighbors and catch up on the happenings around your home, and within the City. Good questions and good company make them educational and fun! Also, in-person attendance is allowed within the Community Room, where the coffee is held, but the number of allowable attendees will be based upon maintaining a minimum social distance of six (6) feet. Social distancing will continue to be practiced by those in attendance, until further notice. If you prefer to participate from your home, a virtual option, via Zoom, will also be available. If you would like to participate via Zoom, you will need to sign up in advance to receive the invitation to attend the Virtual Coffee with the Mayor (see the link below). This link is new each month, so you will need to register again, even if you attended last month’s virtual meeting. Signing up is easy! Here is all you need to do to sign up: 1. Federal At-Home Tests Now AvailableIndividuals can now order free at-home COVID-19 tests from the federal government. Every home in the U.S. is eligible to order four (4) free at-home COVID-19 tests. To order, people only need to provide their name and address — a credit/debit card number is not required and shipping is free. The free tests are rapid tests and orders will ship in 7-12 days.
For those who may need more than the 4 free at-home tests, there are more ways to get an at-home test. Residents can request a free test from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services’ website. The test will be mailed to you along with information on how to administer the test and send it in for results. |

Tree Dedications to Honor Past Wildwood MayorsOn December 9, 2021, through efforts of Mayor Bowlin, the City planted an additional three (3) trees to honor past Mayors of Wildwood. Joining Mayors Marshall and Woether, who already had trees in place, were David Glazer (first appointed Mayor), Ron Marcantano (first elected Mayor), and John Wild. The trees and plagues are located at Wildwood City Hall (16860 Main Street), next to the rear parking lot area. The trees and plagues represent a small token of appreciation for their service to the City over the years. Please come by and enjoy the area! |

Trash Services and Winter Storm ReminderWith the arrival of winter weather conditions, the following information is a reminder of Waste Connections’ winter weather policy for residential service in the City of Wildwood. If streets are considered impassable or unsafe due to storms, Waste Connections will cancel service for the day. When a cancellation occurs, service will resume the following morning, assuming street conditions have improved. Internet Access Committee (IAC) - Project UpdatesFIBER-TO-THE-PREMISE: The announcement many have waited for over the last ten plus (10+) years to hear was made at the City Council meeting on December 13, 2021. An agreement had been reached with Spectrum (Charter Communications) to provide high-speed internet access to all of the underserved and unserved areas of the City. This announcement came after two (2) years of work by the Internet Access Committee (IAC), the City Council, the Mayor, and certain providers that responded to the Request for Proposals (RFP). This outcome finally means that within a timeframe of no more twenty-four (24) months all underserved and unserved areas will have access to 21 st Century broadband speeds. The provider is now completing a design map that will indicate the planned sequencing of service installations to these identified areas. This map will be reviewed by City officials and then it will become the guide to internet access for the future. Information regarding the rollout will be provided by Spectrum to all property owners in the areas where service will be extended and provided, along with updates from the City of Wildwood. The Ordinance supporting this service to Wildwood residents can be found by clicking on the provided link, which includes the aforementioned agreement: Internet Access Agreement. Thank you to all the people that helped along the way, and the patience of those residents, while this tough issue was addressed! HOORAY! OTHER OPTIONS: The Department continues to define other options for internet service, which are identified below: - Bays ET – Fixed wireless network service (original)
- Bays ET – Fiber-to-the-Home (only to certain areas – Hawks Rest, Homestead Estates at Wildwood, and Shiloh Subdivisions)
- Wisper Internet – Fixed wireless network service (original)
- Wisper Internet – Fixed wireless network service (new)
- AT&T Wireless – Mobile communication provider – Hotspot Use
- AT&T – Non-mobile option, where property owner or subdivision compensates provider for extension of fiber optic or T1 Business Line to location(s). Dr Rambaud can provide more background and authored an e-mail in this regard.
- Verizon – Mobile communication provider – Hotspot Use
- T-Mobile/Sprint – Mobile communication provider – Hotspot Use
- Other Mobile Providers – Mobile communication providers, i.e., Mint Mobile, Metro, Cricket, etc. – Hotspot Use
- Satellite – Different providers
- Spectrum (Charter Communications)
- Wildwood Workspaces – 16759 Main Street, Suite 205 (co-working spaces for internet needs)
- Starlink - In the meantime, the discussions relating to the Starlink option for access to high-speed internet continue in many areas of the country. Although not fiber-to-the-home (FTTP), this service may be able to provide a bridge over an extended time gap that currently exist and could continue, until better options are available, as noted above regarding the City’s agreement with a provider of this essential service. Departments of Public Works and Planning/Parks<<< Ash Tree Removals >>>The City of Wildwood's selected contractor will be removing stumps that were left in place from the last round of Ash Tree work, while carrying forward with the next round of identified removals. This next round of removals are identified as "medium" priority Ash Trees and will include approximately 330 of them. Residents at each removal location will be notified via postcard.This work also includes the removal of the stumps, and the replanting of a new street tree. |

State Highways in Wildwood - From Coffee with MayorState Route 100 and State Route 109 are maintained by the Missouri Department of Transportation. These roadways are key arterial in the City of Wildwood and carry high volumes of traffic. If you see a problem or maintenance need along them, the Missouri Department of Transportation has a "Report a Road Concern" link that works very well. Biking and Walking Benefits Program Now in WildwoodThe City of Wildwood has launched an exciting program that aims to create new and additional traffic for local businesses, while continuing to promote an active, healthy lifestyle for the community. Biking and Walking Benefits is a year-round national program in more than 100 communities across the United States that promotes active mobility through discounts/rewards to cyclists and walkers that visit local businesses.
The program is very simple - individuals purchase a $5.00 helmet sticker from participating businesses and after biking or walking to a participating business, present the sticker to receive their discount/reward. If you already have a sticker from another community, just present it at a participating Wildwood business, and be sure to use your sticker to receive discounts at other area businesses.
Lauren Edens, Ward 2 Council Member and the Chair of the Economic Development Committee of the Wildwood City Council, said, “this program fits perfectly with our culture and outdoor infrastructure, including our extensive trail and sidewalk network. We hope that the initial list of 10 businesses grows with more communications and outreach.”

The early settlements of Centaur, Fox Creek, Glencoe, Grover, Hollow, Kelpe, Melrose, Monarch, Orrville, Pond and Westland Acres continue to be discoverable today. Markers provide a brief historicity of these areas for adventurers intrigued by the past. Beyond these unique settlements, the ever-popular Historic Route 66 thoroughfare (now called Manchester Road) bisects Wildwood’s north from south, directly through the heart of the town center. This portion of Route 66 is the original location of the byway, dating back to the early 1930s. LAFAYETTE OLDER ADULTS PROGRAMAfter long COVID-19 break, L.O.A.P. meetings are back! The Lafayette Older Adults Program (L.O.A.P.) is a partnership between the Cities of Manchester, Ballwin, Chesterfield, Ellisville, Wildwood, Winchester, and the Parkway and Rockwood School Districts. If you are at least 55 years old, this program is a great way to become involved!
Participants meet the second and fourth Mondays, between September and May, from 10:00 a.m. (doors open at 9:45 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.). The cost is $2.00 per person, per meeting, which are held at the Ballwin Golf Course, 333 Holloway Road. Coffee, soda, and dessert are provided. All you need to bring is a sack lunch.

SENIOR YOGA CLASS ... THE DETAILSYou can now attend these sessions in-person, but they will also be accessible online from the comfort of your own home. You must register one (1) day in advance of the class date and choose to attend either in person or online (not both).
In-person classes will be held at Wildwood Yoga and Wellness’s new location at 2642 Highway 109, Suite B, in Wildwood. On-line Classes will be held via zoom, further instructions will be e-mailed to you, if attending online.
These classes are FREE for Wildwood residents, and only $5.00 for non-residents, age 60+!
Tuesday’s Class: Senior Chair Yoga (Restore Practice)
Using a chair or a completely supported posture, this practice will target mobility and flexibility of both the body and the mind. With a strong focus on the breath and gentle movement, this practice will explore qualities of a restorative (restful) practice, a yin (longer-holding) practice, and yoga Nidra (guided meditation).
Friday’s Class: Senior Slow Flow Yoga
A meditative flow based on a steady, rhythmic breath, and traditional yoga postures. The flow will incorporate mindful, smooth transitions and holds designed to open the body and the mind. This practice will build strength, balance, flexibility, mobility, and confidence and is ideal for practitioners that are comfortable standing.

Winter Parking and Driving Tips from the City of WildwoodHow to Keep Your Driveway Entrance
From Filling with SnowThroughout the winter months, State, County, and City snowplow crews will be out clearing the highways, roads, and streets during and after each snowfall. Homeowners and other property owners will be clearing their driveways at the same time.
Many times, while this is going on, a snowplow truck will pass by and fill in the end of a freshly cleared private driveway with snow from the roadway. This is not intentional, and there is a way this wintertime inconvenience can be minimized.
The diagram above shows how you can clear snow around the end or your driveway, providing a certain way to reduce the possibility that you will have to do very much re-clearing after a snow plow truck goes by on the road next to your driveway.
The idea is to place as much snow as possible when clearing your driveway, in the direction of travel downstream on your side of the roadway. Next is to clear an area upstream from your driveway opening to form a "pocket" for the snow from the roadway to go into instead of at the end of your driveway.
The result is more of the snow accumulation from clearing the roadway will go into this open pocket area and less will wind up at the end of your driveway.
A note of caution is in order: Please be extremely careful when working next to the roadway — especially when snowplowing operations are in progress. |

CHRISTMAS TREE PICKUP - WASTE CONNECTIONSWaste Connections will pick-up of discarded Christmas Trees through January 28, 2022. This service is free of charge, but pick-up will need to be scheduled by contacting Waste Connections at (636) 321-2100. The pick-up will occur on yard waste days, which are the same as your regularly scheduled recycling day.

Wildwood Area Lions Club
Eyeglasses and Hearing Aids - Drop-Off Box @ City HallThe Wildwood Area Lions Club has a drop-off box at Wildwood City Hall (16860 Main Street, 63040) for used eyeglasses and hearing aids that are provided to others that cannot access them for a number of reasons. Don't throw them away - please donate - and help others in need!
The Wildwood Area Lions Club was chartered by Lions International and is a non-profit organization by the State of Missouri, circa June 2009. Lions Clubs support the Wildwood Area by providing assistance through actions and monetary funding. Lions International has 1.35 million members in 205 countries and regions worldwide. The international foundation has awarded more than $700 million for humanitarian service projects worldwide and provides disaster relief, youth programs, and help to combat disabilities, where needed. |

American Flag Disposal
Service is for Wildwood Residents and Businesses OnlyThe City of Wildwood accepts retired American flags for dignified disposal. Please bring worn flags to City Hall, 16860 Main Street, and leave them with the receptionist. All flags collected will be relinquished to the Boy Scouts of America for proper disposal. US Flags should never be placed in the trash. |

Shoeman Water Project No Longer Offered @ City HallCity Hall is no longer a drop-off location for new or gently used shoes. The Shoeman Water Project ended in August 2020 and, again, no shoes are being accepted by the City. Please consider bringing your shoes to a local thrift store. Thank you for your cooperation. |
