*** A Thank You has been Earned ***

2016 started with a bang - the floods in many areas of the region, including Wildwood, were trying and impactful on numerous people, but this situation proved again that, when the St. Louis community pulls together, it can tackle any problem that comes our way. Thanks to all the first responders, volunteers, and residents of the region for helping out and working through the issues and problems of flooded homes and businesses, closed roads, and traffic snarls.

If you are a Wildwood resident, business owner, or other and were impacted by the flood and need assistance, please contact Wildwood City Hall at (636) 458-0440.

Curbside Pick-Up of Flood Debris

St. Louis County is now arranging for curbside pickup of flood debris from Wildwood residents. All debris must be separated by type and placed on a PUBLIC street right of way at curbside (not on private property) to be eligible for pickup.  Residents wanting to arrange for curbside pickup should call 1-800-427-4625 or 211. See the explanation of how to separate flood debris at the end of the e-newsletter. Thanks to St. Louis County for this service. This service, unfortunately, is only available to properties fronting onto a public street.

Qualified individuals who would like to be considered for this voluntary list should email their contact information with credentials to lynne@cityofwildwood.com.  Please note “Attention – Emergency Response List” in the title bar of the e-mail transmission.  For more information please contact Rick Brown at 636-458-0440 or rick@cityofwildwood.com.

Recycling Grant Provides Optional Larger Recycling Carts

If you find the 65 gallon cart to be too small for your weekly recyclables, please call Meridian Waste Services, at (314) 291-3131, and request one of the larger recycling carts.  Meridian will replace your 65 gallon recycling cart, with a new 95 gallon recycle cart, AT NO CHARGE (the old carts cannot be utilized for anything, but recycling, and will be redistributed to those needing the smaller carts).  Since quantities are limited, the larger carts will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Holiday Light Recycling

The City of Wildwood is pleased to once again partner with Meridian Waste Services’ holiday light recycling program.  No longer wanted strands of holiday lights may be placed in the dumpster supplied for this specific purpose at the end of Wildwood Avenue, which is located just to the east of the Wildwood Municipal Building.  Please do not place light strands in your regular trash, as they become tangled in the equipment at the landfills.  Please do not place them in the curbside recycling containers, since they will not be accepted in the weekly pickup.  Please help keep the City of Wildwood the eco-friendly city we are known to be by placing those unwanted light strands in the appropriate dumpster on Wildwood Avenue.

American Flag Disposal

The City of Wildwood accepts retired American flags for dignified disposal.  Please bring worn flags to City Hall, 16860 Main Street, and leave them with the receptionist.  All flags collected will be relinquished to the Boy Scouts of America for proper disposal.  US Flags should never be placed in the trash.

MSD Caulks Creek Trunk Sewer - Phase 1

The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD) is beginning a major construction project to build a new sanitary sewer which will benefit many Wildwood residents.  The Caulks Creek Trunk Sewer, Phase I project will replace existing undersized trunk sewers, alleviate building backups and eliminate existing overcharged sanitary sewers.  The project consists of 3.1 miles (16,225 feet) of 8-inch to 36-inch sanitary relief sewers starting near the intersection of Church Road and Kehrs Mill Road.  The project extends to the south, generally following the alignment of Caulks Creek, to its ending point in Wildwood’s Anniversary Park (north side of Clayton Road near the intersection of Clayton Road and Strecker Road).  The project includes two separate side collection systems which extend into the Quaethem Farms Estates Subdivision to provide improved service to the homes in that subdivision.
Construction is scheduled to begin in February of 2016 with completion anticipated by early in summer of 2018.
