Dear Residents,
Your elected representatives and city staff have received your complaints regarding the substandard operations by Waste Connections over the past six months. We understand your frustration as we have experienced less than acceptable service at our own homes. For that reason, the City has asked Waste Connections to provide an explanation and a plan to improve their service going forward. To that end, city staff recently met with Waste Connections’ Regional Vice President, new District Manager and Contract Manager, and they notified us of the following changes which are now being implemented:
Waste Connections has brought in drivers and mechanics from across the country to address their staffing challenges.
- A team of supervisors has also been deployed to assist with the managing of the City’s residential routes.
- They have assembled a team of 25 drivers that will work on Saturdays to recover any missed pickups from that week.
- Waste Connections will not charge Wildwood residents, who are actively signed up for yard waste, for the month of April 2022 due to the inconveniences they have experienced over the past six months.
- If you have a service complaint, Waste Connections is providing Wildwood residents a direct point of contact. Please email service complaints to Linda Jones at linda.jones@wasteconnections.com and she will assist you.
It is our expectation that these steps will address Waste Connections’ service deficiencies quickly, and we can all expect normal, uninterrupted trash service going forward. The City will continue to monitor the service provided by Waste Connections and follow up when necessary.
We are providing this information on the City’s website, social media sites and our weekly E-Newsletter. Please feel free to pass this information along to your Wildwood friends and neighbors who might not otherwise see this letter.
Thank you.
City of Wildwood
