Public Works Projects

The following projects are included in the City's  5-Year Capital 

2023 Capital Improvement Program:

Concrete Street and Sidewalk Replacement Project (Various Wards)   

Each year the City has an annual concrete street and sidewalk replacement project to improve many of the City’s local streets in residential subdivisions.  This project is bid during the late winter and work occurs throughout the year. For 2023 we have budgeted $1,250,000 for this work, and street replacement is planned in the following areas: 

 


Asphalt Resurfacing Project (Various Wards)

Each year the City has an annual resurfacing project, which improves many of the City’s asphalt roads.  During this summer, the City plans to resurface Wild Horse Creek Road, from Centaur Road to Route 100 and resurface the streets within Evergreen Forest Subdivision. Budgeted Construction Cost = $600,000. 

Manchester Road and Taylor Road Resurfacing and Traffic Signal Improvement Project (Ward 7 and Ward 8)

This project will upgrade the City’s three traffic signals (Manchester Road at Pierside Lane, Manchester Road at Schnuck's Wildwood Crossing, and Taylor Road at Main Street) as well as resurface Taylor Road from Manchester Road to Route 100 and resurface Manchester Road from east of Old Fairway to Route 100. Design of this project is underway.  The city is expecting to receive federal funds to construct the project.  Budgeted Construction Cost = $1,800,000 ($360,000 City + $1,440,000 Federal) 

Route 109 Sidewalk Improvement Project (Ward 8) 

This project will construct a new sidewalk, with streetlights and landscaping, along the east side of Route 109, from Manchester Road to Viola Gill Lane. Budgeted Construction Cost = $150,000.

Center Avenue Reconstruction (Ward 8)

This project will resurface and widen Center Avenue, from Manchester Road to Bordeaux Estates Ct./Falstone Mill Court.  Budgeted Construction Cost = $300,000.

Bouquet Road Culverts #340 and #352 Replacement (Ward 6)

This project will remove and replace two existing structurally deficient concrete box culverts under Bouquet Road.  Budgeted Construction Cost = $825,000.

Box Culvert #3-107 Replacement (Ward 1)

This project will remove and replace a existing structurally deficient stone box culvert under Wild Horse Creek Road, south of Centaur Road. Budgeted Construction Cost = $850,000.

Strecker Road Sidewalk Project (Ward 2 and Ward 4)

The goal of this project is to provide a continuous sidewalk along Strecker Road between Englebrook Drive to the Ellisville City Limit. The first phase of the project will construct an 850’ long segment of sidewalk from Englebrook Drive to the east. Budgeted Construction Cost = $235,000.

 Future Projects (2024-2027)

2024 - Old State Road Shared Use Path (Ward 7 and Ward 8)

This project will construct a new shared use path, on the north side of Old State Road, from Nantucket Meadows Drive east to Old State Place Drive. Budgeted Construction Cost = $1,140,000 ($228,000 City + $912,000 Federal)

 

2024 - Main Street Extension Project (Ward 8)

This project will design and rebuild Crestview Lane as Main Street, between Eatherton Road to Market Avenue, and provide a connection to Main Street.   Budgeted Construction Cost = $1,250,000.

2024 - Route 109 and BA South Roundabout (Ward 1 and Ward 3)

This project will construct a new roundabout at the intersection of Hwy 109 and Route BA South (Babler Park Drive). This project will reduce traffic congestion and improve safety at the intersection. Budgeted Construction Cost = $1,465,000. ($293,000 City + $1,172,000 Federal).

 

2025 – Route 100 Left Turn Improvement Project (Ward 1 and 6)

This state funded project will design, and construct left turn lanes on Route 100 at Booness Lane/Manchester Road, Woodland Meadows Drive, Hencken Road and Hawks Rest Road/Windy Hollow Lane. Budgeted Construction Cost = $2,571,000. ($1,285,000 City + $1,285,000 State).

2025 – Route 100 J-Turn Improvement Project (Ward 1 and 6)

This state and federally funded project will design, and construct J-Turns on Route 100 at Pond Road and at Route T (St. Albans Road). Budgeted Construction Cost = $2,683,000. ($405,700 City + $1,341,500 State + $940,800 Federal). 

2026 - Valley Road Resurfacing Project (Ward 6)

This federally funded project is planned to resurface Valley Road from Clayton Road to Strecker Road.  Budgeted Construction Cost = $1,000,000. ($200,000 City + $800,000 Federal).


2026 - Eatherton Road Improvement Project (Ward 8)

The City is designing pedestrian and bike improvements to Eatherton Road from Manchester Road north to Cambury Lane. The improved road is proposed to include a sidewalk (along the west side), 10’ trail (along the east side), with landscaping and lighting.   Budgeted Construction Cost = $1,650,000

 

2026- Alt Road Flood Mitigation Project (Ward 6)

This project will re-build and raise a section of Alt Road at State Route 109 to provide flood free access.  Budgeted Construction Cost = $750,000. 

 

2027 – Route 109 Right Turn Lanes (Ward 3)

This project will construct right turn lanes on Route 109 at Garden Valley Drive and Suzanne Ridge Drive.  Budgeted Construction Cost = $250,000.


2027 - Bridge 385 Replacement (Ward 1)

This project will replace Bridges #385 over a tributary of Wildhorse Creek on Ossenfort Road, near Wild Horse Creek Road.  Budgeted Construction Cost = $850,000.

 

Bridge 386 & Bridge 387 over Wild Horse Creek - Replacement (Ward 1)

This project will prepare remove and replace Bridge #386 and Bridge #387 over Wildhorse Creek on Wild Horse Creek Road near Ossenfort Road.   The city has applied for federal funding for this project.
